Youth Leader, Others Eulogise Centenarian For Impactful Life In Okpanam
OKPANAM/Nigeria: A frontline aspirant for the position of Okpanam Youths President, Comrade Lucky Okolo has described the Diokpa-Isi of Okpanam, late Ogbueshi Fredrick Ugbene as a consummate and outstanding community leader whose effective leadership inputs contributed immensely towards the growth and development of the community.
Comrade Okolo, who stated this in Okpanam, Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State during the burial ceremony of the centenarian, said that the late Ogbueshi Ugbene led the community with the fear of God.
While saying that the deceased was very supportive of his aspirations for the Okpanam youths President having received his blessings when he was alive, Comrade Okolo stressed the need for his children to sustain the legacies of their biological father and the father of the community.
In an interview with newsmen, a retired vice principal from the community who is a native of Obodogba quarter, Chief (Ogbueshi) Somayina Patrick Obenyi stated that the deceased was a humble, transparent and courageous community leader that had the interest of his people at heart.
Chief Obenyi described him as a bridge builder, peace lover and committed community who advocated the need for the unity of the community.
He said that the death of the Diokpa-Isi of the community haf created a vacuum in the community, adding that the children should take solace in the fact that their father lived life worthy of emulation.
Earlier, the first daughter of the deceased, Mrs. Mary Ugbene -Mordi said that their father lived impactful live, adding that the centenarian was always honest and stood on the side of truth at all times.
She appreciated well-wishers for identifying with their family, saying that their father gave them good foundation in life even as she said that her father was a living legend in the history of Okpanam, especially for his open mindedness towards the development of the community.
