We Have Repositioned Ndokwa – Chief Opone
ASABA/Nigeria: The President- General of Ndokwa Neku Union, NNU, Chief Johnson Opone and his First Vice President, Chief Chiekem Daphey had called on the people of Ndokwa to be focused on the development of the area, and ignore any distraction that will take them away from what they had achieved in the past three years as an organization that is focused in the development of the ndokwa people.
The duo who were reacting to the recent inauguration of a caretaker committee to oversee the affairs of the organization by the immediate past President-General, Pharm. Paul Enebeli, quarried the rationale behind such committee, as their tenure is yet to elapse as an executive that was legally elected.
According to them, the accusation by most persons that they had been inactive is unfounded, as they had been able to attract attention of the ndokwa nation to the government and agencies of government, which had led to projects been sited in different areas of ndokwa.
“We had attracted and still attracting projects to our communities. The road that is now been done in Utchi is the effort of NNU, and my executive. We interacted and met with the Amnesty office, and we were giving attention.” Says Opone.
Speaking further, the president general pointed out that for the first time, the body organized meeting that will make the people of Ndokwa to formally meet with the presidency, many Ndokwa sons and daughters advised against it, for fear of not been considered anti party players.
Speaking on same tone, the first vice president, Chief Chiekem Daphey, said allegations of being illegal is unfounded, as government and agencies cannot deal with illegal institutions.
Chief Daphey who was going to submit the architectural plan for an Ndokwa House to the Delta State Government, when he spoke with our correspondent, said the executive led by Chief Johnson Opone, had made progress in repositioning the union in favour of Ndokwa people, as they had continuously interacted with other ethnic nationality and government agencies.
He pointed out that since the inception of the present executive, the administrative properties of the union is yet to be handed over by the Pharm. Paul Enebeli led Executive, and the finances of activities of the union had been taking care off by Chief Johnson Opone, as he had dissuaded the idea of depending on the government to takecare of their travel allowances as done by other ethnic nationalities.
However, the President General had promised to call a press conference to publicly speak on the recent development, and give update on the achievement of his executive.
The people of Ndokwa over the weekend where jolted when a 14 man caretaker committee led by Dr. Wilson Ishima, was setup by Pharm. Paul Enebeli to reorganize the apex socio cultural body, Ndokwa Neku Union.
