Warri Peace Advocate Urges Governor to End Communal Crisis Between Two Communities in Delta

By Emmanuel Enebeli

WARRI/Nigeria: Comrade Mulade Sheriff, a prominent peace and development advocate hailing from Delta, has issued a heartfelt plea to the State Governor, His Excellency, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, urging him to put an end to the longstanding communal crisis between the people of Aladja and Ogbe-Ijoh in Udu and Warri South-West local government areas, respectively.

The renowned human rights activist made the impassioned call over the weekend, highlighting the detrimental effects the ongoing crisis has had on the regions’ development. He implored Governor Oborevwori to leave a lasting legacy by resolving the conflict and fostering an atmosphere of peace.

“I want to strongly appeal to the State Governor, His Excellency, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, to achieve this peace process as part of his landmark achievement within his 100 days in office,” Comrade Mulade Sheriff expressed, emphasizing that Deltans would regard him as the “Governor of Peace” without any ethnic bias.

The peace advocate stressed the urgent need to put an end to all forms of inter-communal strife that hinder economic growth and infrastructure development in the State. He lamented that the crises have scared away potential investors and opportunities crucial for creating employment for the youth population.

“Your administration must strive to promote genuine peace to attract the desired development to our dear state,” he asserted passionately.

Comrade Mulade Sheriff also disclosed that his organization, the Center for Peace and Environmental Justice (CEPEJ), would actively support the Governor’s peace-building efforts through their “Delta for Peace Project” advocacy program. The initiative aims to ensure total peace in the State by collaborating with the Governor’s peace-building endeavors.

The call comes at a crucial time when the people of Aladja and Ogbe-Ijoh are in desperate need of lasting peace to unlock their regions’ full potential for growth and prosperity. As the crisis continues to take a toll on developmental opportunities, the Governor faces mounting pressure to act decisively and bring about a resolution to this age-long dispute.

It remains to be seen how Governor Oborevwori will respond to Comrade Mulade Sheriff’s impassioned plea, but many eyes will be on his actions in the coming days, as the fate of peace and development in Warri hangs in the balance.
