Warri Commissions Remodelled Isoko South Chairman’s Residence, Unveils Council Logo

OLEH/Nigeria: Chairman of Isoko South Local Government Area, Friday Ovoke Warri, has reaffirmed his commitment to financial prudence and accountability, revealing that he refused to stay in hotels upon assuming office due to the deplorable state of the official chairman’s residence.

Speaking on Monday during the commissioning of the remodelled official residence and the launch of the council’s logo, Warri recounted his shock at the state of the quarters after his inauguration by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.

“You wouldn’t even allow your pets to stay in the chairman’s residence because of the level of dilapidation,” he lamented. “Immediately, I commenced the remodeling of the place we all are seeing and have come to commission today.”

Warri highlighted some of his administration’s early achievements, including improved security measures and ongoing road rehabilitation efforts. “One of the first things we did upon assumption of office was to engage relevant security agencies to make Isoko South a safer place. We have also embarked on palliative repairs of critical road networks, particularly in Ogbemudia, and will continue to address bad spots despite most roads being state-owned but heavily used by our people.”

He further stated that his administration had provided stable solar electricity at the council secretariat and the chairman’s official residence, while efforts were in the final stage to launch an official website for the local government. “This website will connect artisans and professionals with job opportunities, ensuring productive engagement and bringing governance closer to the people,” Warri assured.

Commissioning the remodelled official residence, Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, commended the chairman for complementing Governor Oborevwori’s M.O.R.E. agenda. He urged Warri to always consult residents before embarking on projects and ensure they meet standard execution.

Guwor also assured Isoko South residents of the governor’s commitment to even project distribution across the state, citing the transformation of the Asaba-Ughelli motorway as proof of his administration’s dedication. He emphasized that all 29 members of the State Assembly remained steadfast in their support of the governor ahead of the 2027 elections.

Meanwhile, unveiling the official logo of Isoko South, Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Kelly Penawou, described it as a reflection of the Isoko people’s rich cultural heritage, agricultural strength, and longstanding commitment to education. He lauded Warri’s vision and leadership in driving the council toward greater heights.
