Voting Commences in Emohua Amidst Peaceful Atmosphere but No Police Presence

EMOHUA/Nigeria: Voting has officially begun in Emohua Local Government Area for the Rivers State Local Government Council Elections. At Unit 3, 025, Ward 4 in Mgbueto Community, the electoral process commenced promptly at 8:30 am upon the arrival of electoral officers.

Despite the absence of police or security operatives, the voting process has so far remained peaceful. At the time of reporting, voters at the unit were orderly and no incidents had been reported.

Speaking after casting his vote, Omenihu Jackson, the Councillorship candidate of the Action Peoples Party (APP), praised the calm atmosphere at the polling station. “The election has been peaceful,” Jackson stated. “People are conducting themselves properly, and the process is running smoothly. I have successfully cast my vote.”

Collins Amesi, a prominent leader in the ward, also commended the conduct of the election but raised concerns about the lack of police presence. While he expressed satisfaction with the peaceful nature of the process, Amesi stressed the importance of security personnel for ensuring credibility.

“You can see that the election is proceeding well without any police presence, but this raises concerns. We commend RSIEC for the smooth process, but the absence of security raises questions about the overall credibility of the election,” he remarked.

As voting continues, many are watching closely to see how the situation develops, particularly in light of the absence of security operatives. However, both candidates and community leaders have so far expressed confidence in the peaceful conduct of the elections.
