Uvwie Monarch Vows Action Against School Vandalism

EFFURUN/Nigeria: The traditional ruler of Uvwie Kingdom, Hrm, Emmanuel Sideso, Abe 1, has taken a firm stance against the vandalism of school facilities within Uvwie, emphasizing the palace’s commitment to safeguarding educational infrastructure.

During a stakeholders’ meeting at the palace, attended by key figures including security agencies, the DPO, and the DSS director, as well as education officials and representatives from Ogbe Secondary School, Effurun, His Royal Majesty, Emmanuel Sidoso, condemned the recurrent vandalization plaguing the community.

Expressing concern over the brazen destruction, King Sidoso highlighted the necessity for community-driven protection of educational assets, labeling the perpetrators as hindrances to progress.

The monarch announced plans for a collaborative effort between the palace and law enforcement to apprehend those responsible, citing a thorough vigilance campaign to root out the culprits.

Addressing ASP Ndifreke, the Divisional Police Officer of Uvwie, King Sidoso urged swift investigation and prosecution to ensure justice is served.

Drawing attention to previous incidents of vandalism and the subsequent community efforts to repair the damages, King Sidoso reiterated the palace’s dedication to supporting law enforcement and educational authorities in identifying and punishing the offenders.

In response, Mrs. Rose Ezewu, the commissioner for secondary education, echoed the urgency of protecting educational infrastructure, aligning with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s commitment to prioritizing education in the state’s agenda.

Ezewu called for a unified front involving school administrators, community leaders, and law enforcement to thwart further attacks on school properties, commending the collaborative spirit demonstrated by the Ovie of Uvwie, the PTA chairman of Ogbe Secondary School, and law enforcement agencies.

The meeting concluded with a collective resolve to combat school vandalism and uphold the integrity of educational institutions in Uvwie.
