Urhobo Youth Leader Preaches Peace, Peaceful Co-Existence At Easter

UGHELLI/Nigeria: The Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) Youth Wing, Worldwide, has called on Urhobo youths and Deltans to imbibe the virtues of peace, unity, and peaceful co-existence as a foundation for growth and sustainable development.
The appeal was made by the Ethnic President of the UPU Youth Wing, Comrade Umukoro Efemena, in his Easter message released yesterday to mark the Christian celebration. Umukoro emphasized that peace, unity, and tolerance are indispensable virtues that must be embraced by all for societal progress.
“It is with great joy that I extend my best wishes to Urhobos, Deltans, and Nigerians as we celebrate Easter,” his statement read in part. “It is a moment of thanksgiving as well as an opportunity to reflect on the benefits of the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. From Holy Scriptures, we understand that Christ’s death redeemed humanity from sin, established His love upon us, and granted us access to eternal life. In view of His sacrifice, we should learn to tolerate one another so that Christ’s suffering, death, and resurrection will not be in vain.”
The Urhobo youth leader, known for his fearless activism, also cautioned against inter-ethnic conflict, reminding the people of the devastating memories of the past Urhobo-Ijaw clashes in Warri, which, he noted, still linger in the hearts of survivors.
He urged all ethnic groups in the Warri Federal Constituency to remember their bonds through intermarriage and shared faith, stressing that unity remains the bedrock for a peaceful and prosperous society.
