UNIDEL Achieves Milestone with NUC Accreditation of 96% of Courses

AGBOR/Nigeria: The National University Commission (NUC) has granted full accreditation to 69 out of 72 courses at the University of Delta, Agbor (UNIDEL), with the remaining three courses receiving interim accreditation. This significant achievement translates to a 96% success rate, marking a historic milestone for the university.

Vice Chancellor Prof. (Mrs) Stella Chiemeke announced the news while briefing the University Senate, highlighting the unprecedented nature of this accomplishment. “This is a remarkable achievement in the history of the university,” she stated.

Prof. Chiemeke attributed the successful accreditation exercise, conducted in 2023, to the unwavering commitment and dedication of the academic staff and the entire UNIDEL community. She emphasized the collective efforts that contributed to this outcome, acknowledging the support from various stakeholders.

“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the Visitor, His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Delta State, for the steadfast support and visionary leadership provided to the UNIDEL Project. Your unwavering commitment to the education sector in Delta State has been instrumental in propelling UNIDEL to these iconic successes,” Prof. Chiemeke remarked.

She further praised the Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, the Commissioner for Higher Education, the chairman and members of the Governing Council, the University Management, and the Unions for their steadfast support and guidance. “This achievement is a testament to the quality of our staff and the robust quality assurance measures implemented at various levels of institutional governance. It is a true reflection of the collective efforts and unwavering dedication of the UNIDEL staff,” she added.

In addition to the accreditation success, the NUC also approved the establishment of full-time undergraduate programs in Anatomy, Physiology, Medical Biochemistry, Radiography, and Radiation Science, starting from the 2024/2025 academic session.

The accredited courses span various faculties, including Administration, Architecture, Arts, Communication and Media Studies, Computing, Education, Engineering, Environmental Science, Law, Science, and Social Science.
