Ukwata of Umukwata Kingdom to Commence Utagba-Uno Road Rehabilitation Ahead of Ikenge Festival

UMUKWATA/Nigeria: The traditional ruler of Umukwata in the Ukwuani Local Government Area of Delta State, HRH Friday Abaja, has announced plans to rehabilitate the bad spots along the Utagba-Uno road. The initiative is set to begin this week.

On Sunday, January 26, 2025, the monarch, accompanied by his team, inspected the damaged sections of the road to assess and estimate the scope of repairs needed. This proactive measure aims to address the security challenges posed by the bad spots, which have become a significant concern for commuters in recent times.

Speaking during the inspection, the Ukwata reaffirmed his commitment to completing the rehabilitation before the Ikenge Festival scheduled for February 14, 2025. “This is part of our effort to ensure a peaceful and enjoyable celebration of the Ikenge Festival for our people,” he stated.

The Ukwata’s intervention has been widely praised as a timely and critical step to improve safety and accessibility in the area. Residents expressed optimism that the repairs would ease the difficulties faced by road users and foster better connectivity within the community.
