BENIN CITY/Nigeria: In a heartbreaking turn of events, Mrs. Toluige Olokobi Babalola, the mother of the young boy who gained fame in 2020 for the viral video where he pleaded with his mother to “calm down,” has reportedly committed suicide. The shocking incident occurred in Benin City, Edo State, leaving behind a devastated family.
The sad news was shared by an individual identified as Samuel@sammydo214, who claimed to be present at the scene on Monday afternoon when the tragedy unfolded. Samuel expressed that Mrs. Babalola took her own life without confiding in anyone about the challenges she was facing.
“The woman in the viral Mummy Calm Down video has just committed suicide here in Benin. She refused to speak to anyone about her problems. She left 3 kids for her husband, including the popular Mummy Calm down boy,” Samuel disclosed in a social media post.
The video, which propelled the young boy to social media stardom, depicted him tearfully urging his mother to “calm down and rest a little” after a wrongdoing. The incident garnered widespread attention, even catching the eye of Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. Subsequently, an Abuja-based real estate firm, T Pumpy Concept Limited, honored the young boy by signing him as one of its brand ambassadors.
Despite the earlier success and recognition, it appears that Mrs. Toluige Olokobi Babalola had been silently grappling with undisclosed issues. The tragic culmination of her struggles has left her husband and three children behind, casting a somber shadow over the family that once captured the nation’s heart.
