Tompolo Calls For Nigerian Unity, As He is Inducted into Niger Delta Media Hall of Fame by DOPF
OPOROZA/Nigeria: In a ceremony marked by pomp and circumstance, the Delta Online Publishers Forum (DOPF) today inducted High Chief Government Ekpomupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, into the prestigious Niger Delta Media Hall of Fame.
The event, which took place at Oporoza, the traditional headquarters of Gbaramatu Kingdom in Warri Southwest Local Government Area of Delta State, was attended by dignitaries and supporters alike, the inductee calls for Nigerian unity.
The Chairman of DOPF, Mr. Emmanuel Enebeli, ANIPR, explained that Tompolo’s induction was the result of overwhelming votes from the people of the Niger Delta Region in an online search conducted over a four-month period from June 2021 to October 2021. Enebeli emphasized Tompolo’s remarkable contributions to the liberation of the Niger Delta Region from economic and environmental degradation, political and social marginalization, and stagnation as the basis for his selection.
The official induction and presentation were conducted by the Chairman of DOPF’s Board of Trustees (BoT), Chief Omafume Amurun.
In his acceptance speech, Chief Government Ekpomupolo, flanked by notable figures including the Speaker of Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abraham Ingobere, and the Traditional Prime Minister of Ijaw Gbaraun Kingdom, Hon. Chief MacDonald Igbadiwei, expressed gratitude to the DOPF for the honour.
Ekpomupolo called on Nigerians to unite and work towards the advancement of the country, stating, “I don’t have any other place except Nigeria. Nigeria is the only country I have so we must all join hands to protect and move Nigeria forward.” He emphasized the need to defend and protect government properties and facilities, highlighting the importance of safeguarding the nation’s economy from sabotage.
