The Route to a New Political Rebirth
The piece of Axiom widely tested proven and accepted by men of proverbial wisdom, says “Every thing in life has time and season”. The expression above is undoubtedly food for thought. A mental pabulum to all. But permit me to say not all will decipher the wisdom kernel of the expression. Nature is uniquely stable, humans only try to emulate the uniqueness in nature.
Nature’s love first to itself before man. No wonder it pours its water freely without criticism; and her doors it opens for day light and closes it at sun down. What a uniqueness in nature.
This trend in nature continues uninterruptedly: This become a source of inspiration to people and nations all over the world. The inspiration to create continuity in governance is the core issue in this piece!
Permit me to say here, that our democracy is intimately intertwined with politics in a love relationship, and the tell tale signs of conception can be seen every where in the country. This is the pregnancy of politics in a democratic setting. The route to a new political rebirth in Nigeria is in the making. A blessing to democracy, the husband of politics. This is a big relief, there is always joy and hope when a man’s wife, after several years of marriage without good signs from her, is often worried. And like all faithful husbands whose better half has conceived must also be troubled, keenly worried and suspenseful in his emotional frame of mind, awaiting and watching the day that our democracy will deliver her new set of democratic children come 2015.
However, we look at the pregnancy and whatever manner of suspense it may have caused our emotions, we pray to the matrons and midwives of democracy (INEC) to deliver sound and healthy children to mount the rostrum of government.
As can be recalled following the trends of politics in Nigeria has revealed over the years successive leadership from one era to another cyclically.
The union of democracy and politics over half a century after have resulted in the birth of several sons and daughters and transformative politics and practices. It is worthy to state here that first birth being the first republic. The second birth being the second republic and from the second to the third and presently we are in the fourth republic headed by Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. And now we are politically and democratically marching on.
Moreso, from the above illustration. We have witnessed new births with new ideological blue prints, as the operational methodology for governance which endeared them to the populace or unpopularized them as well, from era to era.
Time is a serious factor in governance. Let us try to differentiate one era from another era. Aguyi Ironsi’s era may be a different kettle of fish from Gowon’s era down the line to Shehumusa Yardua’s as well as our present time of Goodluck Jonathan’s. So time dictates who is who. Time is Gods own instrument. And when it was time for Goodluck Jonathan we (men) least did not realize it was God’s appointed time for south – south governance. No man would have been able to do other wise.
So based on the foregoing analysis, the awaiting new births of democracy must be nurtured and catered for approvingly before their birth.
This will encourage and motivate all and sundry working tirelessly to ensure Democracy is rooted in Nigeria.
However cumbersome the task of delivery of the new births in Democracy might seem, it is, and will continue to be the job of matrons and midwives (INEC) of Democracy. It is their job to ensure good standard is maintained all through.
When standard of positive values of free and fair election devoid of the common stain of corruption, nepotism and ethnic jingoism is removed in the coming election, I believe the negative ratings in the international arena would diminish to a very low ebb.
That is why we continue to call on the nurturers of the present pregnancy in the womb of politics not to fail Nigerian’s this time around.
In spite of the above plea we need to pray for absolutions of our sins perpetuated over the years in the land. Let us pray for Gods mercy to forgive us our iniquities such as corruptions, kidnappings and killings, especially, the lot that is taking place in the north east of the country. Today we are relieved with the konduga victory and subsequent exploits following. More victory we need in the areas of corruption, social cum economic crimes of kidnapping that has become a household language in Nigeria,
As we pray our prayers along with the stake- holders of politics in the land, we the electorates should be conscious of the use of our moral conscience during elections because over the years past we have greatly misused and mismanaged our voting rights, all to our own perils and doom. To avoid harm and ruin, in the next elections be well informed you electorates (voters) that over the years the spirit of mammon (God of wealth) has continued to deceive and deny you whenever you cast your votes for unrepentant sinners and the dark rulers of our generation. Why not change and cast your votes morally conscientiously? It is either you repent and do the right thing now that a new birth is forth coming or perish in your irrationality.
We must all agree politically for time to change us, otherwise, this all important instrument will fly away. And believe you me, when it does, our destiny will derail and hope will be dashed and shattered!.
The new hope of the common man awaiting redemption with the new birth of a new democracy would be lost completely!.
Let us see the future elections as a true locus of our future destiny and believing in the supremacy and impartiality of God’s time our asundered hopes will be recaptured by using our time and votes conscientiously and morally, in order, to avoid pains, sorrows and lamentations through deceptions and denials.
From the above reasoning we believe that a good leadership is made by the mass electorate in the country.
But often times, this decision has always been denied through rigging of elections. Once more in our usual prayer for transformative politics in Nigeria to be fully rooted, killers and murderers of democracy will be chased by God alone. When this is done God will then direct Nigeria and Nigerians on the ways to a new political rebirth.
Inspite of the overwhelming and demanding problems already on ground democracy must be given a fine footing for good governance to take effect.
The ways good governance can be achieved in Nigeria is for government to be committed in their duties to the citizenry.
Again, let our security agents (police) be more committed to positive values of honesty and sincerity and dedication in their training to make them stand out as trusted and respected public servants in Nigeria. More so, our (INEC) independent electoral commission (the matron and midwives) of democracy and politics must act with due respect to their rightful duties of conducting free and fair elections acceptable to Nigerians and the entire world. In addition to the above, the voters (the electorates) in Nigeria should consider their future and destiny and vote for the right and credible candidate who will be interested to lift them up from their water too, otherwise it makes no meaning to vote and be abandoned.
Finally let us borrow a working principle of setting things right (this is strange in us) a principle of good leadership, good governance that touches many lives, a principle that set things right for the citizenry. Let us for once take a bold step forward in this new rebirth of democracy to exterminate our corrupt tendencies of looting from the lean treasury and thus saving our country from collapsing.
