Suspicion, Outrage Trail Sudden Death of Delta Governor’s Adviser

ASABA/Nigeria: The sudden and controversial death of Mrs. Shimite Bello Love, Special Adviser to the Delta State Governor on Trade and Export, has thrown Delta State into shock, anger, and suspicion, with rising calls for an independent investigation into the circumstances surrounding her demise.
Shimite, widely known as “Mama Sabificate,” reportedly collapsed on Easter Monday at St. Luke’s Hospital, Asaba, with witnesses describing a harrowing scene of foam pouring from her mouth — fueling widespread fears of poisoning.
In a dramatic twist, family members have pointed accusing fingers at her husband, Pastor David Favour Love, alleging foul play. Rumors of domestic violence and suspected poisoning have dominated social media discussions, igniting fierce demands for justice.
However, the Delta State Police Command has confirmed that no arrests have been made. Police spokesman Bright Edafe stating that Pastor Love had contacted the police seeking protection after allegedly receiving threats from Shimite’s family. “He is under protective custody. The allegations flying around are yet to be proven. We must wait for the autopsy report,” Edafe said.
Despite these assurances, public confidence remains low. Conflicting accounts of Shimite’s final moments continue to emerge, with some claiming she cried out, “My chest! My chest!” before collapsing, while others alleged, she had been physically assaulted.
The murky details and absence of swift answers have intensified demands for a thorough and transparent probe. Many Deltans, outraged by what they describe as an opaque handling of the case, are insisting that only an independent investigation can uncover the truth and deliver justice for the late government official.
