State Government Extends Support to Fire Disaster Victims Across Delta State
WARRI/Nigeria: In a bid to alleviate the suffering of victims affected by recent fire disasters in Ekurede Itsekiri, Igbudu Market, Urhumarho, and Agbor communities, the Delta State government has pledged its support and assistance.
Commissioner Terry Etacherure of the Bureau for Special Duties made this announcement during a solemn ceremony while presenting relief assistance to the affected individuals.
“Officials of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) conducted on-the-spot assessments following the incidents to gauge the extent of the devastation,” stated Commissioner Etacherure, underlining the government’s proactive response.
Expressing heartfelt condolences on behalf of the state government, Commissioner Etacherure revealed that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori had authorized the release of funds to SEMA to aid victims in their recovery. “While we acknowledge that no amount of money can fully compensate for the losses suffered, it signifies the government’s commitment to stand by our citizens during times of adversity,” he remarked.
Emphasizing Governor Oborevwori’s dedication to the welfare of all Deltans and his MORE Agenda, Commissioner Etacherure commended the swift and efficient response of SEMA despite resource constraints.
The ceremony reached its zenith with the distribution of cash grants to fire disaster victims, providing much-needed relief to those grappling with the aftermath of the tragedies.
Mr. David Wungo, who tragically lost his child in one of the fires, expressed gratitude on behalf of all victims towards the state government and other officials for their compassion and support during such trying times.
Among the dignitaries present were Prince Gregory Ejohwomu, the Permanent Secretary of the Bureau for Special Duties, Mr. Karo Ovemeso, Director of SEMA, and various other government functionaries, signifying a collective effort to assist and uplift affected communities across the state.
