SSA to Delta Governor Resolves Factional Dispute in Community Newspaper Association

ASABA/Nigeria: The Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governor on Community Newspapers, Prince Joseph Orhomonokpaye, has successfully brokered peace between two factional groups of the Association of Community Newspaper Publishers of Nigeria (ACNPN), Delta State Chapter, by bringing their respective chairmen to the negotiation table. The resolution followed a reconciliatory meeting held on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at the Press Centre of Government House, Asaba.

During the meeting, Prince Orhomonokpaye appealed to the aggrieved members, particularly Elder (Dr) Dike Awana of Frontline News and Mr. Ike Abiagom of Newsbreeze, urging them to set aside their differences for the sake of unity and progress. The SSA also emphasized the Governor’s peace agenda, aligning the discussion with the M.O.R.E Agenda (Meaningful development, Opportunity for all, Realistic reforms, and Enhanced peace and security) championed by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.

The meeting was attended by prominent figures in the community newspaper industry, including Elder Joe Onyibe, the 90-year-old publisher of Ika Voice Newspapers; Comrade Patrick Ochei, publisher of Anioma Trust Newspapers; Chief Daniel Ekiugbo, publisher of Ughelli Times Magazine; Mr. Femi Odonmeta, publisher of Warri Voice Newspapers; Elder Cyprian Eboagwu, publisher of Delta Now Newspapers, among others. After a series of discussions, the chairmen of the two factions agreed to support the SSA’s office in fostering peace within the association and continuing to promote the M.O.R.E Agenda through their publications.
