Speaker of Delta State Assembly, Rt Hon Emomotimi Guwor, Affirms Readiness for Legislative Task
IKOT EKEPENE/Nigeria: At the conclusion of a two-day training program for members of the 8th Delta State House of Assembly, Speaker Rt Hon Emomotimi Guwor expressed confidence in the preparedness of the members for their upcoming responsibilities. Speaking to reporters in Ikot-Ekpene, Akwa-Ibom State, he emphasized the House’s commitment to collaborate with critical stakeholders in advancing peace and development in the state.
Approval and support from the Delta State Legislature will be granted to strategic plans aimed at benefiting the people and promoting good governance, assured the Speaker. He acknowledged the high expectations placed upon the Assembly by the people of Delta State and reiterated the members’ determination not to disappoint them.
Rt Hon Guwor emphasized that unity and stability within the House were essential for achieving the set goals. He pledged effective collaboration with the Executive and Judicial branches of government, ensuring sustainable growth in the state. The Speaker also commended the choice made by Deltans in electing Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori as Governor and Head of the new government, describing him as a man of the people who understands the state and its needs.
Guwor stressed the importance of unwavering support from the people and friends of Delta State, noting that unnecessary distractions can hinder the state’s development. He expressed confidence in Governor Oborevwori’s ability to deliver on his promises, as he has a deep understanding of the people’s challenges and has been actively involved in their lives.
The Speaker assured that the 8th Assembly would provide legislative support for the Executive’s policies and programs aimed at human capital and infrastructural development in the state. He emphasized his role as a bridge between the youth and the elderly, vowing to protect the interests of both groups and ensure their integrity is respected.
Acknowledging the enthusiasm of the youth during his election as Speaker, Guwor affirmed his commitment to never disappoint them, while also valuing the wisdom of the elders. He recognized his responsibility as a representative of both generations and urged patience, understanding, and support from all stakeholders.
