Speaker Guwor Applauds Delta’s Victory at 8th National Youth Games

ASABA/Nigeria: The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has congratulated the government and people of Delta State for their resounding victory at the 8th edition of the National Youth Games, held in Asaba.

Delta State emerged as the overall champion, continuing its dominance in sports with an impressive haul of 46 gold, 31 silver, and 34 bronze medals, totaling 111.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Nkem Nwaeke, Speaker Guwor praised Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and the Delta State contingent for their exceptional performance.

He described the victory as a testament to the state’s sustained investment in youth development and sports infrastructure, noting that Delta has now won the Youth Games for seven consecutive editions.

“My heartfelt congratulations to our talented youths for emerging overall winners at the 8th National Youth Games! Your dedication, perseverance, and teamwork have made Delta State proud,” Guwor said.

He added that the state’s achievements reflect its unwavering commitment to nurturing young talent and fostering excellence in sports.

The Speaker also urged the victorious athletes to keep striving for greater accomplishments, emphasizing that this success marks the beginning of even more milestones in their careers. He called on the people of Delta to celebrate this victory, recognizing it as the result of collective efforts aimed at empowering the youth and promoting socio-economic development in the state.

Commending the sportsmanship displayed by contingents from other states, Guwor expressed appreciation for their participation, which he said contributed to the overall success of the event.

“To our fellow Nigerian states who participated in the games, I extend my sincere appreciation for your sportsmanship and camaraderie. Your presence made the event a resounding success,” he stated.

The Speaker concluded by thanking the organizers of the National Youth Games for selecting Delta State as the host. He expressed hope that the visitors enjoyed the state’s hospitality and looked forward to welcoming them again in the future.

“As you depart, take with you memories of our warm welcome and the excitement of the games. We look forward to hosting you again soon,” Guwor said.
