Speaker Applauds Oborevwori’s Commitment to Security, Hails Restoration of Peace in Uwheru

ASABA/Nigeria: Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for prioritizing security as a key policy of his administration.

Guwor made the commendation during Tuesday’s plenary while reacting to reports of the restoration of peace in Uwheru, Ughelli North Local Government Area, which had been under siege by herdsmen.

The Speaker noted that Governor Oborevwori has demonstrated strong leadership and a firm commitment to the safety of residents, as outlined in his MORE agenda. He described the governor as a visionary leader who understands that security is fundamental to economic growth and accelerated development.

He also lauded the efforts of security agencies in the state, as well as the House Committee on Legislative Compliance, led by Deputy Speaker Rt. Hon. Arthur Akpowowo, for working diligently to ensure the implementation of legislative resolutions.

“The Delta State House of Assembly welcomes the report of the return of peace and security in Uwheru community that has been under siege by herdsmen,” Guwor stated.

“I must appreciate His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, Governor of Delta State, for his proactive response to security concerns in the state.

“I also commend security agencies for their efforts and encourage them to maintain visible presence in the area.

“The State Assembly will continue to work with His Excellency to prioritize the safety and security of constituents and all residents of the state,” he added.

Also speaking, the Member representing Ughelli North 2, Hon. Spenser Owhofa, expressed gratitude to Governor Oborevwori, the Speaker, members of the State Assembly, security agencies, and other stakeholders for their collective efforts in addressing the persistent farmers-herdsmen crisis in Uwheru.

Relying on his privilege under the House rule on “Personal Explanation,” Hon. Owhofa noted that residents can now leave their homes without fear of attacks or harassment by herdsmen.

The lawmaker appreciated the governor and everyone involved in resolving the crisis, stressing that the restoration of peace has significantly improved the socio-economic well-being of Uwheru residents.
