Senator Ned Nwoko Urges Lawyers to Challenge Injustice
ABUJA/Nigeria: Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North in the National Assembly, has called on lawyers to rise to the challenge of fighting injustice at every opportunity, emphasizing that the core calling of the legal profession is advocacy and championing the cause of the people without fear or favor.
He made this appeal during a recent post on X, reflecting on the responsibilities of lawyers during the investiture ceremony of new Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SAN) in Abuja.
According to Senator Nwoko, any lawyer who hesitates to take on critical cases may find it difficult to make significant progress in the legal profession. He underscored the importance of standing up for justice as a key component of their duty to society.
This message aligns with the Senator’s broader advocacy for his constituents and Nigerians at large. Since taking office in June 2023, Nwoko has been relentless in pushing for infrastructure development and improving the lives of those he represents in Delta North.
He has raised several motions and bills, notably including a proposal to upgrade the Federal College of Education (Technical) Asaba into a federal university, a move widely celebrated by his constituents.
Senator Nwoko’s commitment to development is further exemplified by his recent engagement with the Minister of Works, David Umahi, and the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA), aimed at addressing the deteriorating state of federal roads in his senatorial district. His intervention has earned praise from Anioma people, many of whom see his efforts as transformative and unprecedented in the history of Delta North’s representation.
A known philanthropist, Nwoko has also rolled out various programs aimed at lifting his constituents out of poverty and improving living conditions. His vision for Delta North is one of progress and unity, and he continues to rally support for meaningful development projects that benefit not only his constituents but all Nigerians.
Despite being a first-term Senator, Nwoko’s legislative record speaks volumes. His drive to ensure Nigeria benefits from reparations for the transatlantic slave trade has led to the establishment of a Senate Committee on Reparations and Repatriation, where he plays a key role in advocating for Africa’s historical justice.
As Anioma people witness the tangible benefits of Senator Nwoko’s leadership, many believe his tenure marks the beginning of a new era of prosperity for Delta North. With a clear vision, national influence, and unwavering commitment to service, Senator Nwoko is positioning himself as a leader who delivers for his people.
