Senator Ned Nwoko Ranked Among Top Legislators for Impact in National Assembly
ABUJA/Nigeria: In a remarkable demonstration of legislative excellence, Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North Senatorial District, has been ranked among the top-performing senators in the National Assembly, celebrated for his significant impact in the 10th Senate.
A special report issued by the Senate leadership highlighted Senator Nwoko’s prolific contributions, listing him among the legislators with the highest number of bills.
The report, titled “Summary of the Senate Amendment Bills under the 10th Senate of the National Assembly,” revealed that Senator Nwoko sponsored five key bills out of approximately 30 bills prioritized for deliberation by the Committee on the Review of the 1999 Constitution.
Among these, his bill advocating for the creation of Anioma State stood out as the sole state-creation bill under consideration, underscoring the critical importance attributed to his legislative proposal.
Other notable bills initiated by Senator Nwoko focused on Diaspora voting, the adoption of a Parliamentary System of Government, Local Government autonomy, and the provision of life-saving medical aid during emergencies, reflecting his commitment to constitutional reform.
Since his inauguration on June 13, 2023, Senator Nwoko has recorded an impressive tally of 27 bills and 20 motions, establishing himself as one of the most active voices in the Senate. His contributions have earned him a reputation as a vocal and insightful lawmaker, with advocacy spanning critical issues such as security, electricity supply, water access, oil theft, environmental protection, gas flaring, economic revitalization, social welfare, and entrepreneurial growth.
To accelerate development in Delta North, Senator Nwoko has spearheaded impactful projects across the Ika, Aniocha/Oshimili, and Ndokwa federal constituencies. These include constructing a sports facility in Issele-Uku, solar-powered boreholes in Umunede and Idumuje-Ugboko, and solar streetlights in communities like Onicha Ugbo, Asaba, and Kwale.
Additional projects include a two-kilometer road in Idumuje-Ugboko, the renovation of a police station in the same area, and the rehabilitation of failed sections of the Benin-Asaba expressway, with notable progress made on critical sections such as Ezeneyi, Okwe, Ubulu-Okoti, and Igbodo.
Beyond infrastructure, over 2,000 individuals have benefited from Senator Nwoko’s skill acquisition and empowerment programs, designed to promote employment, wealth creation, and healthcare improvements in the region.
Senator Nwoko’s efforts extend to championing justice and unity. In 2024, he was instrumental in securing the release of HRM Ovie Clement Ikolo, the traditional ruler of Ewu Kingdom in Ughelli South, detained following the Okuama crisis of March 14, 2024.
