Senator Ned Nwoko Empowers Delta North Vigilantes with Training and Communication Gadgets
ASABA/Nigeria: In a bid to bolster security, foster peace, and drive development across Delta North, Senator Ned Nwoko on Tuesday organized an intensive training program for vigilante groups drawn from the nine local government areas in the district.
The capacity-building initiative, held at Senator Nwoko’s senatorial office in Asaba, was conducted in collaboration with the Defense Space Administration. The event also featured the distribution of advanced communication gadgets to over 60 vigilante personnel from various Anioma communities.
Speaking through Comrade Joshua Opia, Director of Security at his senatorial office, Senator Nwoko emphasized the critical role of peace and security in fostering development. He highlighted the importance of empowering local security operatives who remain closest to the grassroots.
“As an advocate for Anioma state creation and human empowerment, I understand the pivotal role vigilantes play in safeguarding our communities. Their discipline, focus, and dedication to maintaining order are essential, and their efforts will not go unrewarded,” Nwoko assured.
Captain C.J. Ejeteh of the Defense Space Administration commended the initiative, describing Delta as a strategic security hub requiring vigilant oversight. He urged participants to utilize the newly provided communication tools effectively, reiterating the importance of their role in community security.
The training featured expert sessions by resource persons Dr. Ben Ogoriba and Chief Barwa Peter, who offered practical advice on handling firearms responsibly. They emphasized that vigilantes must operate within the law and collaborate with law enforcement agencies in the line of duty.
Participants expressed gratitude for Senator Nwoko’s continued commitment to grassroots development and social upliftment. Representatives from various vigilante groups, including Monday Chukwuji, Awaji Chukwuka, Chukwuma Nwoko, Nwankwo Francis Ikezue, and Idehen Alfred, lauded the senator for his foresight and unwavering support for community safety.
Certificates of participation were presented to the attendees at the event, which was overseen by Chief Eze Ugo Asibelua, head of Senator Nwoko’s senatorial office in Asaba.
The initiative underscores Senator Nwoko’s legislative agenda focused on promoting security, peace, and the overall progress of Delta North and Nigeria at large.
