Senator Natasha Applauds INEC for Rejecting ‘Fake’ Recall Process

ABUJA/Nigeria: Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for rejecting what she described as a “fake process” orchestrated by sponsored groups and individuals to recall her from the Senate.

The Senator expressed gratitude to the electoral body for upholding justice and constitutionality, resisting pressure from what she called “undemocratic elements” in Kogi State and the Senate. INEC had on Thursday declared that the petition for her recall did not meet constitutional requirements and that no further action would be taken on the matter.

Reacting in a personally signed statement, Senator Natasha said, “God has put to shame anti-democratic forces plotting my recall from the Senate, including one of the most wanted persons by the EFCC, former Governor Yahaya Bello.”

She further asserted that the mandate given to her by the people of Kogi Central could not be undermined by political forces, including former Governor Bello and Senate President Godswill Akpabio. “The voice of the people is the voice of God. Nobody can toy with that mandate without being put to shame,” she declared.

Senator Natasha maintained that she never doubted the outcome because of her faith and the overwhelming support of her constituents. She described INEC’s decision as a triumph of justice over injustice and lauded the electoral body for maintaining its independence.

“I commend the umpire for shaming the shameless agents of darkness and setting the record straight according to the laws of our land. To God be the glory, we have defeated them again,” she added.

The Senator criticized those behind the recall attempt, branding them as manipulators, election riggers, and promoters of political violence in Kogi Central. She warned that their era in politics was coming to an end as Nigerians would no longer support corrupt politicians.

Expressing appreciation to her supporters, Senator Natasha reaffirmed her commitment to justice and good governance. “I am out to bring justice to the oppressed, freedom to the captives, and to make my modest contribution to ensure Nigeria is great again,” she stated.
