Renowned Philanthropist to Address Nigeria’s Brain Drain Crisis at Maris Annual Public Service Lecture
ASABA/Nigeria: Chief Philomena Ededey Ugheminaye, a distinguished philanthropist and prominent figure in Delta State’s governance, is set to grace the upcoming Maris Annual Public Service Lecture as a key Discussant, scheduled for Wednesday, March 27, 2024, the event promises a profound discussion on the pressing issue of Nigeria’s brain drain predicament.
In a statement released to the press by Comrade Fidelis Egugbo, Secretary of the Maris Trust Council (MTC), it was revealed that Chief Ededey, known for her extensive contributions to public service and education, will join other esteemed personalities to dissect the topic, “Flight of Talents: Navigating Nigeria’s Brain Drain Predicament.”
The lecture itself will be delivered by Prof. Stella Chinye Chiemeke, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Delta (UNIDEL), Agbor. Alongside Chief Ededey, Dr. Barry Gbe, the Special Adviser to the Governor of Delta State, and two other notable individuals will partake in the discourse.

A Paul Harris Fellow of the Rotary Club, she holds degrees in Psychology, International Law and Diplomacy, and Law from esteemed institutions such as the University of Lagos and Western Delta University, Oghara.
Her illustrious career spans various governmental roles, including membership in the Delta State Universal Basic Education Board and the transition committee of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration. Additionally, she has served on the Governing Council of the College of Education, chaired the Post Primary Education Board in Asaba, and contributed significantly to the Land Use and Survey Board.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Chief Ededey is known for her passion for gospel music, dance, and spreading the word of God. She enjoys exploring diverse cultures through travel and savoring their culinary delights. Her commitment to philanthropy and youth empowerment has earned her numerous accolades, including the Meritorious National Diamond Award for Development and a Distinguished Service Award from Rotary International.
