Principal Harps On Importance Of Culture To Society

OGHARA/Nigeria: The Principal of Ogini Modern Secondary School, Ogharefe, Oghara in Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State, Mrs Rosemary Ofere said culture has a very important role in everyone’s life as the importance of culture in the society cannot be overemphasized.
She made this known at the cultural day event organized by the school management to mark the end of term and to celebrate the cultural heritage of the people.
The principal, who said that culture encompassed the way of life of the people and the way they behaved, urged parents to always cultivate the habit of inculcating into their children and wards the norms and values of their culture.
“If parents can imbibe the habit of inculcating the norms and values of their culture on their children, it would go a long way in positively affecting the society positively.
“It would bring unity among the people as everyone would learn to respect everyone’s culture.
“Our cultural heritage cannot be put away for the western way of life because the culture of the people is their identity,” she stated.
She said that the event was also organized to put into practice what the students in JSS1 were taught in culture.
A cash prize was presented to the best performing and most punctual student of SS1, Favour Uyovwisuohwo by her class teacher, Mrs Oghenerukvwe Yusufu.
Highpoints of the event were different cultural dance performances by the students, quiz competition and presentation of gifts items to best dressers in their culture dress codes.
