Police Rescue Kidnapped Victims, Neutralize Suspected Kidnapper in Delta State Operations

ASABA/Nigeria: In a series of successful operations, the Delta State Police Command has rescued two kidnapped victims and neutralized a suspected kidnapper, displaying a strong commitment to combatting crime in the state.

On April 26, 2024, following an intelligence report, police led by the Commissioner of Police, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, and DPO Abraka Division, SP Fabian Ayameh, launched an operation in Okuno, Orogun. They engaged suspected kidnappers in a gun battle, resulting in the rescue of two victims. Despite one suspect sustaining serious injuries, the rest managed to escape. The police recovered an AK-47 rifle and ammunition from the scene.

In a separate incident on April 24, Eagle Net Special Squad Surveillance team arrested a 38-year-old motorcycle rider, Orji Timothy, along Ovirigor Road Ughelli, after discovering a significant quantity of suspected Indian Hemp in his possession. A search of his residence yielded a Locally Made Double Barrel Pistol, Tramadol, Swinol, and cutlasses. Investigation into the matter is ongoing.

Furthermore, on April 22, police received a distress call at the Ovwian/Aladja Divisional Police Headquarters about an attempted motorcycle theft. They arrested Anthony Odumegwu, a 44-year-old man from Anambra State, recovering an English Berreta Pistol without a magazine at the scene. The investigation is also underway in this case.
