PDP Sweeps Delta State Council Polls

ASABA/Nigeria: The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has claimed victory in the July 13 Council polls, securing wins in all 24 Local Government Areas where elections took place in Delta State.

The results were announced on Sunday at the headquarters of the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission (DSIEC) in Asaba. Following the declaration of the results by the LGA Returning Officers, DSIEC Chairman Dr. Jerry Agbaike addressed the press, highlighting the performance of the various parties.

“The Allied People’s Movement (APM) won in one electoral ward in Oshimili South local government area,” Dr. Agbaike stated, acknowledging the solitary win outside the PDP’s sweep.

In a notable event during the elections, PDP’s Chairmanship candidate in Udu local government area, Chief Vincent Oyibode, was returned unopposed. This occurred after the candidate from the All Progressives Congress (APC) stepped down, clearing the path for Oyibode’s unchallenged victory. The same played out in the other Local Government Areas, like Ukwuani, where Barr Possible Ajede was reelected as the chairman for a second term
