PDP Sends Strong Warning to APC Delta, Says 2027 Victory is Certain

EKU/Nigeria: The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ethiope Federal Constituency sent a strong message to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State on Friday, asserting its dominance ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Emomotimi Guwor, who was the special guest at the official inauguration of the Executive Members of the Ethiope Federal Constituency PDP Forum, dismissed concerns over the recent defection of Hon Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, the constituency’s representative in the House of Representatives. Guwor assured party faithful that PDP remains unshaken and will reclaim the seat soon.

He noted that the presence of key political figures from Ethiope East and West LGAs at the event underscored the party’s continued dominance. According to him, the APC will be politically irrelevant in the constituency by 2027. He further urged Deltans to rally behind Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, emphasizing his administration’s infrastructural and socio-economic strides across the state.

Guwor reiterated that PDP remains unchallenged across Delta’s three senatorial districts, assuring that opposition parties lack the political strength to mount any credible challenge. He praised Governor Oborevwori’s financial prudence, noting that the administration has not resorted to borrowing and remains committed to funding projects sustainably.

Delta State PDP Chairman, High Chief Solomon Arenyeka, echoed similar sentiments, asserting that those who defected from the party would eventually return, as they lack the political structures to withstand PDP in a fair contest. He commended Governor Oborevwori’s leadership and urged party members to support him through 2031.

Arenyeka also expressed confidence in Senator Amori’s leadership of the forum, predicting that the party would consolidate its hold on the constituency. He called on the newly inaugurated executive to immediately begin mobilization efforts for the next election cycle, declaring that “PDP is Delta, and Delta is PDP.”

Deputy Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Arthur Akpowowo, reaffirmed Ethiope Federal Constituency as a PDP stronghold. He described the defection of Ibori-Suenu as a political misstep, citing Section 68 (1)(g) of the 1999 Constitution, which renders such defections untenable. Akpowowo vowed that the party would reclaim the House of Representatives seat in 2027 and reaffirmed Governor Oborevwori’s re-election prospects.

Chief John Oguma, a prominent PDP leader in Ughelli South, dismissed the APC’s influence in Ethiope Federal Constituency as nonexistent beyond social media. He assured that PDP would reclaim senatorial seats lost to the opposition and ride on the governor’s achievements to victory.

Chairman of the Delta State Internal Revenue Service, Hon Chief Solomon Ighrakpata, reinforced PDP’s electoral dominance, asserting that APC lacks the capacity to win any local government in Delta State. He dismissed any notion of a vacancy in Government House Asaba, affirming that Governor Oborevwori’s administration will continue uninterrupted till 2031.

Senator Amori, in his post-inaugural address, declared that Ethiope Federal Constituency is poised to politically overpower APC in the next elections. He dismissed Ibori-Suenu’s chances of returning to the House of Representatives under any party and called on PDP leaders to maintain the party’s electoral momentum.

Amori announced plans to hold a mega rally at Oghara Township Stadium to showcase PDP’s supremacy in the constituency. Chief Sunday Onoriode, the State Director of Protocol, provided historical context on the formation of the Ethiope Federal Constituency PDP Forum, initiated by Amori in January.

Chief Bernard Edewor, leader of PDP in Ethiope East, called for party unity and reassured members that all defected seats at the National Assembly would be reclaimed. He commended Governor Oborevwori’s leadership and strategic political engagements.

The event culminated in the inauguration of the Ethiope Federal Constituency PDP Forum EXCO by Delta Central PDP Chairman, Chief Anthony Akpomiemie, Esq., on behalf of State Chairman, High Chief Solomon Arenyeka. The ceremony, attended by political heavyweights and party loyalists from all 22 wards, reaffirmed PDP’s firm grip on the constituency.

A highlight of the event was a vote of confidence in Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, moved by former House of Representatives member, Rt Hon Ben Igbakpa, and seconded by Deputy Speaker, Rt Hon Arthur Akpowowo. Speaker Guwor officially sanctioned the motion.

The high-profile political gathering was skillfully compered by Ethiope West Local Government Council Chairman, Pastor Chris Onogba, who kept the atmosphere charged with enthusiasm.
