PDP Kokori Ward 6 Disburses ₦27.7 Million in Empowerment and Christmas Gifts
KOKORI/Nigeria: Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kokori Ward 6, Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State, have distributed ₦27.7 million as empowerment and Christmas gifts to party members. The gesture, organized by the College of Leaders of the ward, was aimed at appreciating loyal party members and strengthening the PDP’s dominance in the area.
Rt. Hon. Sunny Akpodiogaga Emeyese, Chairman of the College of Leaders and Ward 6 Leader, revealed that the funds were raised by ward leaders to support members during the festive season. He reassured party members of the PDP’s resolve to sustain its political influence in Kokori Ward 6 and across Delta State.
The former federal lawmaker commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his development initiatives in the ward, including road construction projects and several high-profile political appointments for Kokori Ward 6 members. Emeyese highlighted these appointments, which include the Director General of the Delta State Orientation and Communications Bureau, board chairpersons, executive assistants, and senior special assistants, as evidence of the governor’s commitment to grassroots development.
Addressing the defection of Hon. Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, a former PDP member representing Ethiope Federal Constituency, Emeyese dismissed its potential impact on future elections, emphasizing that the PDP remains unshaken in Ward 6 and Ethiope East. He called on defectors to reconsider and return to the PDP, assuring them of a warm welcome.
“This ₦27.7 million empowerment and Christmas package was disbursed across the ward’s 27 units based on membership strength,” Emeyese explained. “Units with larger voter registration received between ₦1.7 million and ₦1.8 million, while smaller units received between ₦100,000 and ₦500,000. Distribution is scheduled for December 24 at each unit’s usual meeting locations.”
Emeyese reiterated the College of Leaders’ commitment to regular empowerment initiatives, declaring the PDP’s firm grip on Kokori Ward 6 and its 11 wards across Ethiope East LGA. “The major opposition party cannot penetrate our stronghold, no matter their efforts,” he asserted.
Other Ward 6 leaders, including Chief James Omeru, Chief Bernard Agbonmiyeri, Dr. (Barrister) Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, and Chief (Barrister) Omovie, commended Governor Oborevwori’s leadership and expressed confidence in the PDP’s prospects in 2027.
Dr. Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, Director General of the Delta State Orientation and Communications Bureau, assured members that the defection of Ibori-Suenu and her supporters posed no threat to the PDP’s dominance. “We are determined to cripple the APC in Kokori Ward 6. This ₦27.7 million empowerment is just the beginning. At the right time, we will show those who betrayed us that the PDP is the political landlord in Ethiope East and Delta State,” Oghenesivbe declared.
The event underscored the unity and resilience of PDP leaders in Kokori Ward 6 as they prepare to consolidate their influence in future elections.
