Paucity of Funds is affecting the Legislature- Hon Ojo

Alponsus OjoPaucity of funds due to the decline in revenue to Delta State had been attributed to the slow of activities of members of the Delta state House of Assembly, in the area of non-legislative functions of the members to their constituencies.

The member representing Ukwuani Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon Alphonsus Ojo made this statement on Wednesday, 8 June, 2016 during the one year anniversary of the 6th Assembly in Asaba.

According to Hon Ojo, while the primary function of the legislature is to make law for the good governance of the state, the people within the various constituency also look up to the members of the assembly to take care of their personal needs like rents and other necessary bills.

Hon Ojo who said the past year was tough, said that the assembly had achieved a lot despite the paucity of funds which is affecting the country, particularly Delta state.

While acknowledging the fact that their primary duty is that of law making, and over sight function, said that every other activities, like bills for members of their constituency had been reduced because of paucity of fund.

Hon Ojo however, has thanked the people of Ukwuani for their patient, and promised that projects that are planned for the area will be well monitored to ensure proper execution.
