OYRTMA Cracks Down on Traffic Offenders, Arrests 52 in Special Enforcement Exercise
IBADAN/Nigeria: The Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority (OYRTMA) has conducted a special enforcement operation recently, resulting in the arrest of 52 traffic offenders. The apprehended individuals were fined for various violations, including one-way driving, illegal parking, and selling cars by the roadside.
In a statement on Saturday, OYRTMA Chairman, Major Adekoya Adesagba (Rtd.), emphasized that these activities pose significant risks to road safety and disrupt the orderly flow of traffic in the state. He underscored the importance of continued enforcement and public education to combat these dangerous practices and promote a safer transportation system in Oyo State.
As part of its ongoing efforts to enhance road safety, OYRTMA has also launched a sensitization campaign targeting the Park Management System (PMS) and road users. The campaign, led by Major Adesagba and executed by Zonal Commanders, aims to educate commuters on the importance of adhering to traffic regulations and the consequences of non-compliance.
Adesagba reiterated the agency’s commitment to creating a conducive environment for motorists and ensuring strict enforcement of traffic laws. He expressed hope that the sensitization program would lead to a reduction in road accidents, traffic congestion, and other related issues, ultimately contributing to a safer and more efficient transportation system across the state.
