Oyo State Government to Conduct Computer-Based Recruitment Test for 15,000 Candidates
IBADAN/Nigeria: The Oyo State Government has announced that approximately 15,000 candidates are set to participate in its forthcoming computer-based test (CBT) for recruitment into various cadres within the civil service.
The Chairman of the Oyo State Civil Service Commission, Alhaji Kamoru Abiodun Aderibigbe, disclosed this on Thursday during a briefing at his office in Ibadan.
According to Alhaji Aderibigbe, the examination is scheduled to take place from Monday, 25 November, to Thursday, 28 November 2024. He revealed that Governor Seyi Makinde had approved the recruitment of 900 officers across more than 60 cadres within ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) in the state’s civil service.
“Out of the 22,235 applications received, 15,000 candidates were deemed qualified to sit for the CBT,” Aderibigbe stated, adding that this recruitment drive is unprecedented in the state’s recent history. “This is the largest recruitment exercise in Oyo State in the past two decades, as previous efforts were limited to specific cadres.”
Highlighting the achievements of the Makinde administration, he cited earlier recruitments, including 60 Environmental Health personnel, 692 Education Officers, and 30 State Counsel in 2020, along with 19 officers recently hired for the Ministry of Lands.
Aderibigbe noted that the recruitment process strictly adhered to the parameters outlined in the Tribune advertisement published on 7 October 2024. “Of the 22,235 applications submitted via the state government job portal, around 67% met the criteria for recruitment into their respective cadres, in line with the scheme of service,” he said.
To streamline the process, candidates have been grouped by cadres and assigned specific centres for the CBT. Those applying for roles such as Education Officers, Environmental Health personnel, Social Welfare Officers, and Youth Officers will take their tests at the Arch. Bamidele Samson CBT Centre, opposite UCH, on Monday, 25 November, and Tuesday, 26 November. Other candidates will sit for their exams at the Distance Learning CBT Centre, Ajibode, Ibadan, on Thursday, 28 November.
Aderibigbe confirmed that invitations are being sent to successful applicants. He advised those who have not yet received their invites to refresh their application status on the Oyo State Government portal if they meet all stipulated criteria.
He urged candidates to bring their printed application forms and invitation slips to the examination centres at the designated times specified in their individual invitations.
Expressing gratitude to Governor Seyi Makinde for his commitment to youth empowerment and poverty alleviation, Aderibigbe appealed to applicants to represent the state honourably. “This recruitment drive is a significant step towards lifting thousands of youths out of poverty and into prosperity through gainful employment,” he remarked.
