Oyo State Government Cracks Down on Illegal Diesel Sales Along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

IBADAN/Nigeria: The Oyo State government has condemned the continued sale of adulterated diesel along unauthorized points of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, calling the situation an “eyesore.”

Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Architect Abdulmojeed Olawale Mogbonjubola, gave the directive for the demolition of all structures housing the illegal diesel sellers during a monitoring and enforcement exercise along the route.

Addressing the unauthorized traders, Mogbonjubola expressed frustration over their refusal to heed prior warnings from the state government. He noted that despite several visits and warnings to halt the illegal activity, the sellers continued to operate, disregarding the state’s stance on the matter.

“It is unacceptable that despite multiple warnings, these illegal operations persist. The state government will no longer tolerate this,” Mogbonjubola emphasized.

In a related development, the commissioner also visited the Fish Market at Odo-Ona Kekere in Ibadan, where he directed traders to prioritize sanitation. Mogbonjubola highlighted a black spot within the market premises, warning against further dumping of refuse and urging the traders to engage the services of an environmental consultant to ensure proper waste management.
