Over 275,000 Jobs Created in 22 Months Under Oborevwori’s Wealth Creation Agenda- Oghenesivbe

ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State Governor, Dr (Elder) Sheriff Oborevwori, has within the past 22 months empowered over 275,000 youths, women, and entrepreneurs across the three senatorial districts through a multifaceted job and wealth creation agenda aimed at reducing unemployment and boosting economic prosperity.

Director General of the Delta State Orientation and Communications Bureau, Dr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, disclosed this on Wednesday in Asaba while speaking on “Orientation Panorama,” a current affairs programme on Voice of Delta Radio monitored in the state capital. He said the Oborevwori administration has distinguished itself through massive infrastructure development, socioeconomic transformation, and strategic economic policies that have yielded tangible results.

He noted that Delta’s GDP per capita, currently estimated at $2,506, places it as the fourth richest state in Nigeria. He further revealed that the state government is actively encouraging qualified young Deltans with School Certificate qualifications to explore additional career opportunities through enlistment into military and paramilitary services, including the ongoing admissions into the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) and the Nigerian Army 89th Regular Recruit Intake (RRI).

Oghenesivbe highlighted several long-term benefits of military service for young Nigerians, including pensionable employment, fully sponsored federal government education up to the doctorate level, and a stable monthly salary while in service.

He praised Governor Oborevwori’s unwavering resolve to transform Delta without resorting to external borrowing, emphasizing that the implementation of the administration’s MORE Agenda has significantly boosted the growth and viability of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) across the state.

The Bureau Chief called on eligible youths across Delta’s three senatorial zones to take advantage of the free online application process for the Nigerian Army 89th Regular Recruit Intake by visiting the official portal at: https://recruitment.army.mil.ng.

He added that the State Awareness Creation Committee on Youth Enlistment into Military and Paramilitary Services, under the directive of Governor Oborevwori, will provide free transportation for all shortlisted candidates to and from the Cenotaph Complex in Asaba, the screening venue, between Monday, June 2 and Monday, June 16, 2025, starting from 7 a.m. daily.

“Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has so far empowered over 275,000 Deltans—women, youths, and entrepreneurs—through multifaceted wealth and job creation in the past 22 months and counting,” Oghenesivbe stated.

“Delta has been rated as one of the top four largest economies in Nigeria, with a robust GDP that has translated into visible and practical prosperity for the people and the state.”

“Our governor is also expanding employment opportunities beyond the state by encouraging young Deltans with School Certificates to apply for enlistment into military and paramilitary services, especially the ongoing admissions into the NDA and the Nigerian Army 89th Regular Recruit Intake.”

“Service in the military and paramilitary offers pensionable employment to our youths, alongside other benefits such as sponsored higher education for serving officers—from recruit level up to PhD,” he added.

“Interested applicants for the Nigerian Army 89th Regular Recruit Intake should visit the official application portal at: https://recruitment.army.mil.ng to apply,” Oghenesivbe advised.
