Onyeme Lauds Police Anti Cultism Initiative

WARRI/Nigeria: The Chairman, Delta State Internal Revenue Service, Sir Monday Onyeme has commended the leadership of the Nigeria Police Force for setting up the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices, POCACOV, stating that the initiative would greatly advance the fight against cultism, drug abuse and other social vices which have become prevalent in communities across the country.

Sir Onyeme made these remarks in Warri while receiving the national coordinator of the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices, POCACOV, Chief Superintendent of Police, Ebere Amaraizu and members of his team in his office.

While welcoming the visitors, the Revenue Service Boss noted that insecurity was an anathema to development, and that he would do all within his powers to support the achievement of the objectives of the body.

Speaking earlier, the national coordinator of POCACOV, CSP Ebere Amaraizu revealed that the campaign against cultism and other vices was an offshoot of the community driven, non-kinetic campaign seeking to synergize with different stakeholders in communities across the country to help discourage cultism and other youth prone vices through advocacy, value reorientation and mentoring.

He stressed the need for parents to form the habit of having what he termed “family parliament” or meetings with their children as a strategy for engaging the children and knowing what was going on in the children’s lives. This, he said, would help identify and nip some negative tendencies in the bud.

The high point of the event was the decoration of Sir Onyeme as Grand Patron of the body.
