Onu-Ika Endorses Anioma State Creation as Senator Ned Nwoko Gains Support

AGBOR/Nigeria: The movement for the creation of Anioma State has gained further momentum as Onu-Ika, the umbrella socio-cultural organization of the Ika people, formally endorsed the initiative.

The endorsement came on Thursday when Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North Senatorial District and sponsor of the Anioma State Creation Bill, visited the national secretariat of Onu-Ika in Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area.

During the visit, Elder Daniel Usifor, Head of Collective Leadership (HCL) of Onu-Ika Nigeria, expressed the organization’s support, noting the significant benefits Anioma statehood would bring to the socio-economic and political development of the Ika people.

“We are in full support of Anioma state creation,” Usifor stated. “As the voice of the Ika nation, Onu-Ika sees this as a legitimate and worthy cause. Senator Nwoko has proven himself to be an interactive leader who genuinely represents the interests of the people. We are fully behind you.”

Senator Nwoko, in turn, expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming support from the Ika community, affirming that solidarity for Anioma had extended throughout Delta North. He emphasized his commitment to the cause, declaring that the creation of Anioma State remained his primary focus.

“What matters to me is the creation of Anioma State,” Nwoko said. “The people and government will determine where it will belong, but Anioma has been a race spanning five decades. I am in a position to finish it. With my experience and exposure, and with the cooperation of all, Anioma will rise. Opportunities are coming for our people from all fronts.”

Last Saturday, Senator Nwoko hosted a Stakeholders’ Summit on the creation of Anioma State in Asaba, the Delta State capital. The summit brought together over 100 cultural and interest groups, including traditional rulers, community leaders, political figures, professional bodies, youth organizations, and women’s groups. The overwhelming consensus at the summit was strong support for the creation of Anioma State, further solidifying the movement’s progress.

As the quest for Anioma statehood gathers steam, Senator Nwoko continues to lead the charge, rallying the people of Delta North around the dream of a state that will advance their collective socio-economic and political interests.
