Omo-Agege Hails Tinubu’s Economic Policies, Demands Accountability in Delta

WARRI/Nigeria: Former Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has commended President Bola Tinubu’s economic policies, declaring that they are yielding positive results.

Speaking at interactive meetings with leaders and stakeholders in Warri South-West, Isoko South, and Isoko North local government areas, the Delta APC governorship candidate in the 2023 election praised Tinubu for his bold reforms aimed at transforming the nation’s economy.

Omo-Agege described Tinubu’s economic decisions as courageous, noting that the initial challenges faced during implementation are now giving way to tangible benefits. He highlighted increased revenue allocation and investment opportunities as key gains of the policies, with Delta State among the major beneficiaries.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has done exceptionally well,” Omo-Agege said. “His administration has significantly increased financial allocations to states. In Delta State, the FAAC allocation has tripled compared to the previous amount.”

He revealed that Delta State had received over ₦1 trillion in revenue allocations, marking a threefold increase from the previous administration. He further stated that local governments, including Warri South-West, Isoko South, and Isoko North, are now receiving more funds than ever.

“If the people knew the exact amount allocated to this area, they would be astonished,” he said. However, he expressed concern that the benefits of these funds are not being felt across the state. He accused Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration of lacking transparency and called for accountability in the utilization of the funds.

Omo-Agege urged Deltans to question how the state government is spending federal allocations. “If Delta State has received over ₦1 trillion, where has the money gone?” he asked. “Traveling through Warri South-West, Isoko South, and Isoko North, I have yet to see significant development projects funded by these allocations. Sadly, many Deltans do not even know Tinubu’s administration has sent such huge sums to the state.”

He also recalled Tinubu’s visit to Delta State during the election campaign, stating that the President was shocked by the level of underdevelopment in the region, despite its oil wealth. “That experience was one of the reasons he announced the removal of fuel subsidy on his first day in office—to free up vital resources for state development,” Omo-Agege said.

Despite this, he lamented that Governor Oborevwori has remained silent on how the substantial funds have been used, particularly in oil-producing communities.

He concluded by urging Deltans to demand transparency from their leaders and support the APC in the 2027 elections to restore good governance. “This money belongs to all of us, not just the government,” he said. “We must stand up, work hard, and ensure we fully support the APC to bring real development to Delta in 2027.”

Omo-Agege’s remarks are expected to shape political discussions in Delta State, as the APC positions itself for a strong challenge in the next election.
