KWALE/Nigeria: Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, former Deputy President of the Senate and Delta State All Progressive Congress, APC governorship candidate in the 2023 elections, has assured party supporters that the lingering internal crisis among
leaders in the state will soon be resolved. Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting with APC elders, leaders, and members in Obiaruku and Kwale, covering Ukwuani and Ndokwa West Local Government Areas, Omo-Agege commended party members for their resilience and dedication during the last election.
He attributed the APC’s loss in the 2023 governorship election not to a lack of support but to what he described as the PDP’s manipulation of the electoral process. He urged party leaders in the Ndokwa Nation to put aside their differences and work together, emphasizing that the APC’s victory in two out of three senatorial districts in Delta was a significant achievement.
“We need everybody to come together and work as a team because the end of one election marks the beginning of another,” Omo-Agege stated. “I appeal to you all—let us put aside our differences and focus on what unites us. No one enters an election divided and expects to win.”
Highlighting his achievements, he pointed to the establishment of the Federal University of Health Sciences, Kwale, which he described as a major milestone that would enhance education and economic growth in the state. He insisted that APC must remain focused and disciplined, emphasizing the need for strategic planning to break the PDP’s hold on Delta in 2027.
“We must work harder to ensure victory in 2027. Overcoming the PDP’s influence requires unity, discipline, and strategic planning,” he said. “We cannot simply rest on the outcome of the last election. We must strive to change it and ensure APC prevails in Delta. I assure you that efforts will be made to bring everybody on board to ensure a united front against the PDP in the next election.”
Omo-Agege also criticized the Delta State government’s handling of increased revenue following fuel subsidy removal and exchange rate unification, alleging that funds meant for development were being diverted to service questionable loans. He called on the Ndokwa people to hold the government accountable for oil revenues and other resources.
“Despite receiving over N1 trillion from FAAC and IGR, the Delta State government and local councils have failed to develop the state,” he said. “Instead, they prioritize debt repayment, cater to godfathers, and oil party structures. We must put an end to this wasteful governance and enthrone a progressive government that would build a brighter future for Delta State.”
Omo-Agege reaffirmed his support for President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, stressing that APC must also secure Delta in the 2027 presidential election to sustain the administration’s economic transformation.
“The agenda has already yielded significant gains, including higher revenue for states and local governments, better economic growth rates, declining imports, higher exports, and higher income for farmers,” he said. “To sustain this momentum and ensure the long-term growth of our country, it’s crucial that we reelect President Tinubu in 2027.”
Several APC leaders, including Barr. David Ochonogor, Chief Dele Omenogor, Chief Johnson Opone, and Prof. Ogwezi Chuks, commended Omo-Agege for his contributions to the Ndokwa Nation. They praised his role in establishing the Federal University of Medical Sciences, Kwale, and pledged their continued support for his political ambitions in 2027.
