Oluremi Tinubu Extends Financial Support to Elderly Deltans in Renewed Hope Initiative

ASABA/Nigeria: In a move to alleviate the challenges faced by vulnerable citizens in Delta State, Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has provided financial assistance to 250 elderly residents.
During the second edition of the Renewed Hope Initiative Social Investment Support Program, held at the Government House in Asaba, the First Lady, represented by Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, wife of the Delta State Governor and founder of the You Matter Charity Foundation, announced the distribution of ₦200,000 each to elderly citizens aged 65 and above. This initiative, carried out across the country’s 36 states, aims to ease the hardships faced by the elderly, particularly during the festive season.
Deaconess Oborevwori, represented by Lady Catherine Onyeme, wife of the Deputy Governor, lauded Senator Tinubu’s thoughtfulness. She noted that the program’s theme, “Total Wellness: Happy, Healthy, and Prosperous Lifestyle,” was timely given the economic climate. She highlighted the increased grant amount this year, up from ₦100,000 per beneficiary in the previous edition.
In addition, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori amplified the gesture by donating 250 bags of 50kg rice to the beneficiaries. He expressed his administration’s commitment to supporting vulnerable populations in the state.
The event featured various health initiatives, including medical check-ups, treatment, and the dispensation of medications to ensure the well-being of participants.
The highlight of the program was the distribution of ₦200,000 cash and a 50kg bag of rice to each beneficiary, a gesture that brought immense joy to the recipients. Many beneficiaries expressed heartfelt gratitude, praising the initiative and praying for blessings on Delta State and the nation.
With beneficiaries drawn from the 25 local government areas of Delta State, the program underscored the importance of social investment in enhancing the lives of the elderly, setting a benchmark for other states in the federation.
