OREROKPE/Nigeria: The executive chairman of Okpe local government area, Chief Julius Jessa Scott, has described the just begun routine prayer session at the council’s secretariat as a welcome development, saying that the importance of prayer cannot be overemphasized.
Chief Scott, who received a team of ministers of God in his office, led by Bishop Dr. Mcpherson Onoriode, Leader, Christian Community Okpe, expressed warm appreciation to the clerics for making huge sacrifice and leading the people of Okpe to offer glowing prayer to God and requesting His divine blessings upon Okpe land.
He promised to give full support to the clerics to sustain the routine prayer programme to attract favour from God.
The Okpe local government area chairman’s wife, Mrs. Eunice Scott, was visibly impressed by the development as she thanked the ministers of God for the initiative, pledging full support to the programme to attract God’s divine mercy upon Okpe land.
Expressing disgust at the perennial socioeconomic and political travails ravaging the Nigerian polity currently, Bishop Mcpherson Onoriode said that Okpe local government council shall overcome its challenges and achieve divine prosperity for the people of Okpe in no distant time. He noted that Okpe is a blessed land with abundant resources that could turn its economy around.
Bishop Mcpherson added that the slow pace in the development of the infrastructure and economy of Okpe is a sad commentary and mystery that could only be unraveled and remedied by prayers.
Subsequently, the ministers of God prayed to God and requested His anointing upon Okpe land. They decreed that God’s blessings, peace, unity and development shall abide in Okpe land.
Also, the clerics prayed to God to bless Hon. Julius Scott and grant him divine wisdom to pilot the affairs of Okpe council to greater height. They also prayed for the entire staff of Okpe local government area, and elected members of the council, asking God to take away the travails in Okpe land, even as they ask God to reverse the ugly trend of non-payment of the salaries of local government workers in Delta state, decreeing that their salaries shall be paid regularly to the glory of God.
Bishop Mcpherson thanked God for the success of the prayer session and requested Hon. Julius Scott to provide a chapel at the Okpe LGA secretariat where the routine prayer session shall hold regularly.
The prayer session was attended by members of staff of the council, including the Head of Personnel Management, HPM, Sir William Egbikwaje; TLG of the council, Chief Adibor Senior; HOD Community, Budget and Statistics; HOD Education; HOD Agric; and NULGE Chairman.
