Oghenesivbe: Delta Opposition Leaders ‘Chasing Shadows’ Ahead of 2027 …Says N275 billion projects signal Delta’s fast-track to economic growth

ASABA/Nigeria: The outstanding performance of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori in less than two years in office has unsettled opposition leaders across Delta State’s three senatorial districts, according to Dr. Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, Director General of the Delta State Orientation and Communications Bureau.

Speaking during a radio interview on Saturday, Oghenesivbe dismissed those positioning themselves for the 2027 governorship race as mere opportunists, insisting they are “chasing shadows.” He described recent criticisms from leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State as feeble attempts to undermine the governor’s administration, asserting that Oborevwori remains focused on setting new governance benchmarks.

He pointed to the N275 billion recently approved by the State Executive Council as proof that Delta is experiencing rapid socioeconomic and infrastructural transformation under Oborevwori’s leadership. He further emphasized that the governor’s recognition as Nigeria’s “Governor of the Year” underscores his competence, prudence, and visionary leadership, which continue to earn him widespread support.

Oghenesivbe noted that some political figures are already struggling for relevance ahead of 2027 due to the governor’s increasing popularity. He argued that recent defections from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the opposition have only strengthened Oborevwori’s standing among Deltans and boosted the party’s influence across the state.

On the ongoing “Drug-Free Delta” campaign, he highlighted the governor’s commitment to ensuring that Delta youth realize their potential through parental guidance, mentorship, and human capacity development. He described the campaign, jointly executed by the state government and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), as a groundbreaking initiative that is resonating with secondary school students.

The grand finale of the campaign, he revealed, is scheduled for Tuesday, February 18, at the Royal Place Hall in Orerokpe, Okpe Local Government Area. The next phase will extend to higher institutions across the three senatorial districts.

Oghenesivbe dismissed opposition attempts to discredit the governor, predicting they would soon collapse politically. “Defections from PDP for personal political gain will have no impact. We are confident of reclaiming all PDP National Assembly seats in 2027,” he declared.

He insisted that Oborevwori’s achievements speak for themselves and that voters will judge him by his track record, not opposition propaganda. “Governor Oborevwori is a divine project delivering remarkable results. Deltans love his leadership style, and his approval of N275 billion worth of projects in a single executive council meeting is another historic achievement,” Oghenesivbe stated.
