Oghenesivbe Backs Waive’s Call for APC to Adopt Oborevwori as 2027 Governorship Candidate

ASABA/Nigeria: The Director General of the Delta State Orientation and Communications Bureau, Dr. Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, has commended the House of Representatives member for Ughelli North/Ughelli South/Udu Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Francis Waive, for urging the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State to adopt Governor Sheriff Oborevwori as its governorship candidate for the 2027 election.
Speaking on the Voice of Delta 97.9 FM programme, Orientation Panorama, Oghenesivbe described Waive as a patriotic Nigerian and a prominent Urhobo son who prioritizes the socioeconomic and infrastructural development of Delta State over partisan interests. He praised Waive’s stance, noting that the lawmaker has consistently distanced himself from divisive politics, focusing instead on Governor Oborevwori’s transformational leadership.
He highlighted the governor’s achievements, including massive infrastructural projects, economic reforms, youth and women empowerment initiatives, and significant progress in education and sports. He stated that with the recent approval of 76 mega projects worth over N275 billion, along with N2.5 billion allocated for local government development across all 25 LGAs, Waive’s assertion that APC cannot defeat Oborevwori in 2027 is justified.
Oghenesivbe further lauded Waive’s call for APC to adopt Oborevwori, emphasizing that Delta State is witnessing unprecedented infrastructural progress under the governor. He pointed to Julius Berger Nigeria Plc’s ongoing construction of mega flyovers, bridges, and pedestrian walkways, as well as the near completion of the Ughelli-Asaba road dualization, as evidence of the administration’s commitment to development.
He argued that Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda has transcended political affiliations, gaining acceptance among well-meaning Deltans, including Waive, due to its transparency, accountability, and impact-driven policies. He criticized the APC Delta Publicity Secretary for hastily dismissing Waive’s recommendation, urging a broader perspective before issuing reactions.
Backing Waive’s position, Oghenesivbe insisted that there is no strong APC contender capable of defeating Oborevwori in 2027, given the administration’s rapid development strides. He called on the APC Delta leadership to disregard the Publicity Secretary’s objections and instead heed Waive’s advice by unconditionally endorsing Oborevwori’s re-election bid.
“Rt. Hon. Francis Waive is a man of integrity who does not engage in politics of bitterness or baseless propaganda. As a practical Christian, he has chosen to prioritize good governance over party lines, appealing to APC Delta to adopt Governor Oborevwori as its sole candidate for 2027,” Oghenesivbe stated.
He described Oborevwori’s achievements in under two years as “intimidating,” noting that even members of the opposition are acknowledging his impact. He urged APC Delta to recognize the governor’s exceptional performance and act decisively by adopting him as its candidate.
“I believe the APC Delta Publicity Secretary was too quick to counter Waive’s genuine appeal. Waive presented verifiable facts, and his concerns for Delta’s sustainable development should be commended. The best course of action for APC Delta is to adopt Governor Oborevwori as its 2027 governorship candidate,” Oghenesivbe added.
