A body known as the Niger Delta Youth Voice (NDYV), has honoured Hon. Ochor Chris Ochor, the Executive Director Social Services Development, on the board of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC) with the “ICON of Good Governance in Delta State”, as the Organisation of Isoko Persons Who are Physically Disable (OIPPD), awards him an “Award of Excellence”, and a vote of confidence on him, and the state governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa.

The award to Hon Ochor by the youths of Niger Delta Voice, a body that is made up of over 10 million Niger Delta Youths from home and the diaspora was in recognition of his contribution to government activities since inception of the present democratic dispensation.
According to the leader of the NDYV, Comr. Ofulue Justin, the body among its numerous aims is to recognise Distinguished Niger Delta Personalities Who has excelled in their Chosen endeavour in life and had contributed to the growth and development of the society, after going through the selection criteria, selected Hon Ochor for the award.
Reacting to the award, Hon Ochor said that it is an honour to be recognised especially when it comes from a group that is not known by the recipient, but secretly “choose you for recognition.”
While thanking the organisation for the honour, he admonished social organisations, especially youth bodies within the Niger Delta for the need to always eschew violence, as a peaceful environment will always encourage good physical and social development.
“I think when we continue like this, Niger Delta will truly, truly become a united front, not only as a minority, but a destination for this country.” He said.
Hon Ochor, who received the award in his office in Warri, said the commission, through the Social Services Development, will always partner with genuine organisations to serve the people of Delta state better.
In another development, the Organisation of Isoko Persons Who are Physically Disable, (OIPPD), has giving an “Award of Excellence” to Hon Ochor Chris Ochor, and passed a vote of confidence on him, and the state Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa for ensuring that the people with physical challenges in the state are carried along in the activities of the state.
The commendation came when the members of the OIPPD Comrade Simeon Ikuta visited the Executive Director Social Services Development in his office in Warri, to thank him for the Christmas gift from the commission during the Christmas and New Year Celebrations.
According to the leader of the group, the recognition was been given because of the display of accountability, transparency, prowess and giant strides in strengthening the operations of the commission, especially as displayed in the disbursement of the gifts from the commission to the physically challenged recently, Subsequently, the members of the OIPPD, thanked the Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa for appointing such a man in person of Hon Ochor Chris Ochor into the board of DESOPADEC.
Reacting to the recognition, Hon Ochor thanked the members of the OIPPD for the recognition, and the vote of confidence passed on the board and the state governor, through the activities of the Social Services Development of DESOPADEC, and pleads that the members of the body should always bear with the commission if their demands are not met as at when due, especially with the present drop in world oil price.
Speaking further, Hon Ochor told the group that many a time, certain things may need to happen for things, especially positive things to occur, and when such happens peace should always be restored.
