Ochiagha: NNU Calls for Recognition of 3 Others

Kwale: Ndokwa Traditional Rulers Council has been called to recognize three Ndokwa sons and daughters in the planned recognition of the Senator Peter Nwaboshi, the Senator representing Delta North in the National Assembly, as the Ochiagha of Ndokwa Nation.

The call was made by the Executive of the apex body, Ndokwa Neku Union (NNU), through the President-General, High Chief Johnson Opone, in a letter addressed to the Chairman of Traditional Council HRM Nze-Uku Isaac P.O.U. Obi.

In the letter, while acknowledging the right to honour the senator, he called for further acceptable name and not the title, “Ochiagha of Ndokwa nation, the people’s warlord”, as the intending recipient, Senator (Bar) Peter Nwaboshi, is not from Ndokwa, and it is not in agreement with the entire Ndokwa people.

“Our people welcome the idea but collectively agree with the title of “Ochiagha” especially for a nonmilitary person and especially somebody who is not of Ndokwa origin”. He said.

Chief Opone, advocated for a new title to be suggested for the recognition of the senator, but they should consider three other sons and daughter of Ndokwa, from each of the three LGA of Ndokwa.

“It will be fair and equitable one person is chosen from each local government to assuage the current wave of dissatisfaction occasioned by the use of the title “Ochiagha of Ndokwa Nation” for a nonmilitary person”. He concluded.
