Oborevwori’s Loyalty to PDP Unwavering, Says Aniagwu

ASABA/Nigeria: The Delta State Commissioner for Works (Rural) and Public Communication, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, has dismissed rumors suggesting Governor Sheriff Oborevwori might defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC), reaffirming the governor’s unwavering commitment to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Speaking during an interview on Arise Television, monitored in Asaba, Aniagwu described the speculation as baseless and a reflection of wishful thinking by those seeking to bolster their ranks.
“Governor Oborevwori is not just a proud member of the PDP; he is a poster governor for the party, demonstrating its capacity to deliver on governance and development. The idea of him leaving the PDP is not even a dream, let alone a reality,” Aniagwu stated.
He further highlighted the PDP’s entrenched influence in Delta State, likening it to “a political bloodstream running through Deltans.” Aniagwu underscored the party’s dominance in the state, attributing it to the governor’s strong performance and the overwhelming public support for his administration.
Aniagwu dismissed claims of political instability within the PDP, labeling them as “malaria-induced dreams” of detractors. Instead, he noted that the party is undergoing a process of rejuvenation and remains a central player in Nigeria’s political discourse.
Addressing Governor Oborevwori’s cooperation with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Aniagwu clarified that the collaboration stems from a patriotic commitment to national progress, not any ulterior political motive.
“Our support for the president is rooted in enlightened self-interest. The success of President Tinubu’s administration cascades into the success of every governor in Nigeria. In Delta State, we do not fight constituted authority; we support it for the development of our people,” Aniagwu said.
He also spoke on the governor’s achievements in infrastructure, human capital development, and security, aligning them with the PDP’s commitment to the welfare of the people as enshrined in the Nigerian Constitution.
“Governor Oborevwori’s administration has demonstrated that the PDP is still very much alive and effective. The projects we are executing and the policies we are implementing speak volumes about the strength and vision of the party,” Aniagwu remarked.
Aniagwu concluded by reiterating that Oborevwori remains firmly in the PDP, stating that rumors of his defection are baseless. He expressed pride in the governor’s leadership and the party’s continued relevance both in Delta State and across Nigeria.
“As a leader of the PDP, Governor Oborevwori has shown that the party has the strength to deliver good governance. Those spreading rumors are free to speculate, but the governor remains committed to the PDP and the development of Delta State,” Aniagwu affirmed.
