Oborevwori’s Defection to APC Seals Political Unity in Delta State — Keyamo

ASABA/Nigeria: In a landmark moment for Delta State politics, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori was officially welcomed into the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Sunday night, with party leaders describing his defection as a unifying force and a major step toward long-term political stability in the state.

Leading the high-powered delegation to Government House, Asaba, was the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, who declared that the APC in Delta was now fully consolidated with Oborevwori’s entry.

“We are here today as one unit — the gatekeepers of the party in Delta State. Outside of this group, there is no APC in Delta,” Keyamo said, emphasizing the party’s newfound unity. “If anybody tells you otherwise, the person must be a comedian,” he added, dismissing any claims of division within the party.

Keyamo, flanked by three senators, the state’s sole APC House of Representatives member, and other senior party figures, described Oborevwori’s defection as a blessing not only to the APC but also to Delta State, President Bola Tinubu, and the people of the state.

“With Governor Oborevwori’s entry, the APC in Delta has achieved full consolidation. There is no division after today. We have wholeheartedly adopted your MORE Agenda, which aligns seamlessly with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda,” he stated.

The Minister also praised Governor Oborevwori’s infrastructural strides, particularly the world-class flyovers being constructed in Warri and Effurun by Julius Berger. Sharing a personal moment, Keyamo said, “I touched my brother from the airport when I saw the flyovers, and I told him it would have been difficult to defeat Sheriff in 2027. Those are the kind of bridges you see in America, and they are now in Uvwie, courtesy of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.”

He stressed that the governor’s achievements would have made any electoral contest in 2027 a steep challenge. “But now,” Keyamo added triumphantly, “the mission that was impossible is now within the APC, without the need for an electoral battle.”

Looking ahead, Keyamo expressed confidence in the future, telling party leaders that their sights were now firmly set on 2031.

The event, attended by key political stakeholders, marked a significant realignment in Delta State politics, as the APC — buoyed by Governor Oborevwori’s leadership — positions itself strongly for future electoral victories.
