Oborevwori’s Aide Commends Youth Leadership in Uvwie on International Youth Day

EFFURUN/Nigeria: Dr. Patrick Ighomrore, Senior Special Assistant to the Delta State Governor on Community Development, and National Patron of the Nigerian Youth Alternative Council, (NYAC) has congratulated  the youths of Delta State and Nigeria, with special recognition of those in Uvwie Local Government Area, in celebration of the 2024 International Youth Day.

Speaking on Monday, August 12, Dr. Ighomrore emphasized the critical role young people play in today’s digital age, driving innovation and progress across various sectors.

“As we celebrate under the theme, ‘From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development,’ it is essential to recognize the pivotal role that our young people play in shaping the future through digital innovation,” Dr. Ighomrore stated.

He noted that the theme underscores the significance of digital literacy and the immense opportunities available within the digital landscape, where youths are leading the charge in creating solutions, driving entrepreneurship, and contributing to sustainable development.

Dr. Ighomrore, who also serves as the National Coordinator of the Chartered Institute of Human Resources and Strategic Management, reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that youths are equipped with the necessary skills and resources to thrive in this digital era.

“We must invest in their education, provide access to digital tools, and create an environment that fosters innovation and creativity,” he emphasized.

However, Dr. Ighomrore also highlighted the challenges that many young people continue to face, particularly in education, employment, and access to technology.

“It is our collective responsibility to address these issues and ensure that every young person has the opportunity to realize their full potential,” he said.

In closing, he called on all stakeholders—government, private sector, educators, and community leaders—to join forces in supporting the youths as they forge new paths in the digital world.

“Together, we can create a future where every young person can contribute meaningfully to the development and progress of our society. Happy International Youth Day!” he concluded.
