Oborevwori: We Will Silence Critics with Verifiable Projects

BOJI-BOJI/Nigeria: Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to responding to criticisms with tangible and impactful projects that improve the lives of Deltans.

Oborevwori, represented by his Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, made this declaration on Thursday during the inauguration of the Boji-Boji Owa Mixed Modern Market in Ika North-East Local Government Area. He dismissed social media criticisms from opposition elements, emphasizing that his government’s achievements were visible across communities in the state.

“The few members of opposition political parties are only making noise on social media; our people are seeing and enjoying the projects we have executed in their communities. It is good that with verifiable projects, we are responding to our critics,” he said.

Following the commissioning of the market, the governor ordered the immediate closure of the old abattoir at Boji-Boji Owa Market, directing traders to move into the newly built, modern facility.

“This market, built on the banks of the Orogodo River, is a bridge that connects the SMART Agenda of the past administration to the M.O.R.E. Agenda of the present government,” he stated. “The contract for its construction was awarded in the twilight of the last administration, championed by the Honourable Member representing Ika North-East Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly. Recognizing the potential of markets in fostering economic growth, I visited this project on November 9, 2023, for an on-the-spot assessment to ensure its speedy completion.”

Oborevwori described the market as a symbol of the entrepreneurial and communal spirit of the Owa people and Deltans in general. He assured that his administration remained committed to infrastructure development that supports trade and investment.

“This facility will not only boost economic activities but also create jobs, stimulate innovation, and improve the overall well-being of our people. Therefore, it must be well maintained to ensure its sustainability,” he added. “I urge traders and artisans to utilize this facility for legitimate business to enhance the economic prosperity of our people.”

In her remarks, the Member representing Ika North-East in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Marilyn Okowa-Daramola, revealed that the market site was once a dumpsite. She praised Governor Oborevwori for his administration’s commitment to infrastructure development.

“Our Governor saw our need, heard our voice, and responded with action. He has been instrumental in bringing numerous projects to our community, and I am proud of these achievements under the MORE Agenda of our working Governor,” she said.

Sir Festus Ogbanzu, speaking on behalf of the host communities, and Hon. Monday Odigwe, Chairman of Ika North-East Local Government, also commended the governor for delivering people-oriented projects, stressing that his administration had continued to prioritize grassroots development.
