Oborevwori Walking the Talk on Development, Says Aniagwu

ASABA/Nigeria: The Delta State Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, has reaffirmed Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s commitment to even development across the state, stating that the administration is delivering on its promises under the MORE Agenda. He emphasized that the governor is not just making promises but actively working to transform Delta State.
Aniagwu made this assertion during an interview with Quest TV in his office in Asaba on Wednesday, highlighting the MORE Agenda as the administration’s roadmap for spreading development to all parts of the state. He praised Governor Oborevwori for matching words with action, stating, “Governor Oborevwori isn’t just talking; he’s putting in the work to drive progress.”
The Commissioner noted the governor’s vast experience in governance, having served as Speaker of the State House of Assembly, and stressed that the administration is building on the achievements of its predecessor.
“The last administration did well in road construction, but today, we have Julius Berger actively working in Delta State, improving accessibility in Warri, Uvwie, Udu, and surrounding areas,” Aniagwu stated. “So, it’s not about comparing administrations—Sheriff Oborevwori has street credibility.”
Addressing financial concerns, Aniagwu revealed that Governor Oborevwori has executed projects so far without borrowing. However, he clarified that while the administration remains committed to financial prudence, securing a loan in the future would not be ruled out if necessary for the state’s development.
“The Governor has applied great prudence in managing the state’s finances. Delta State remains solvent, projects are ongoing, and loans are being liquidated,” he assured.
On security, the Commissioner lauded the governor for strengthening security measures across the state, citing the donation of over 60 brand-new vehicles to security agencies as a clear demonstration of his commitment. He also hinted at other strategic interventions aimed at maintaining peace and stability in Delta.
Aniagwu further commended the Director-General of the Delta State Bureau of Orientation, Dr. Fred Oghenesivbe, for his efforts in sensitizing students on the dangers of drug abuse. He urged parents to play a more active role in their children’s upbringing, emphasizing their influence during formative years.
Responding to the recent defection of Senator Ned Nwoko from the PDP to the APC, the Commissioner dismissed the senator’s criticisms of the governor as baseless.
“Governor Oborevwori was massively voted for by Deltans. After winning 38 court cases, how can anyone call him a ‘governor by default’?” he queried.
Aniagwu maintained that while the opposition is free to engage in politics, the Oborevwori administration remains focused on delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of Delta State.
