Oborevwori Urges Public Servants to Uphold Integrity

ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has called on public servants to discharge their duties with integrity, diligence, and a deep commitment to the progress of the state and the nation.
Speaking on Saturday at the retirement thanksgiving service of the former Delta State Head of Service, Mr. Reginald Bayoko, held at Grace and Progress Family Church, Asaba, Governor Oborevwori commended Bayoko’s dedication to public service, describing his career as remarkable and inspiring.
Accompanied by his Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, and top government officials, the Governor praised Bayoko’s steadfastness throughout his 35-year career, including nearly a decade each as Permanent Secretary and Head of Service.
“We are here to celebrate the glory of God in the remarkable service and well-deserved retirement of my brother, Mr. Reginald Bayoko,” Oborevwori said. “In whatever capacity we serve, let us do so with integrity, diligence, and a commitment to the betterment of our state.”
He admonished civil servants to embrace patience and due process in career progression, stating that some manipulate their records to delay retirement, thereby denying younger officers opportunities for growth.
“You have run your race with honour, courage, and humility,” Oborevwori told the celebrant. “You have not only led but also mentored and inspired countless young Deltans who now look up to you as a role model.”
In his sermon, Bishop Chuka Agwuegbo, who spoke on the theme Don’t Forget, urged public officeholders to acknowledge God’s role in their achievements, warning against ingratitude. He described Bayoko as a brilliant administrator whose contributions to the civil service remain invaluable.
In his remarks, Bayoko expressed gratitude to God for a fulfilling career and thanked Governor Oborevwori and past Governors for the opportunity to serve the state in various capacities.
