Oborevwori Tasks Political Appointees on Whistleblowing, Swears in Amori as Chief Adviser

ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has charged political appointees to champion his administration’s whistleblowing policy by exposing poorly executed projects in their areas for prompt government intervention.

The governor gave the directive on Wednesday while swearing in Senator Ighoyota Amori as his Chief Adviser at the Unity Hall, Government House, Asaba. He emphasized that video recordings and detailed reports on substandard projects would aid the government in blacklisting erring contractors, thereby preventing project abandonment and ensuring strict compliance with contractual agreements.

“Last week, during an interactive session with top-level public and civil servants, I announced my intention to open a hotline for residents to report cases of sub-standard jobs by contractors to my office,” Oborevwori stated. “This initiative will assist the government in ensuring that full value is derived from every naira spent on projects.”

He urged political appointees to take the lead in this initiative by monitoring projects within their localities and providing timely feedback to the government. “Governance is all about teamwork, and all hands must be on deck to achieve our goal of making Delta State the envy of other states in the federation,” he added.

Oborevwori further noted that his administration’s achievements in the last 19 months had gained national recognition, attributing the progress to fiscal discipline, infrastructural renewal, youth development, empowerment initiatives, and support for small and medium enterprises.

“We are determined to keep our expenditure within revenue limits and ensure judicious allocation of resources, thereby fostering economic prosperity and sustainable development,” he assured.

Congratulating Amori on his appointment, the governor highlighted his vast experience and contributions to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at both the state and national levels. He expressed confidence in Amori’s political acumen and strategic insight in advancing the administration’s MORE Agenda.

“Chief Amori has played significant roles in past administrations and has contributed immensely to the development of Delta State. We will be counting on his wisdom and experience in policy formulation and implementation,” Oborevwori said.

The governor also reminded political appointees of their responsibility to serve as ambassadors of his administration, urging them to uphold transparency, accountability, innovation, and social responsibility in line with the MORE Agenda’s core values.

Responding, Senator Amori expressed gratitude for the appointment, pledging to provide sound advice that would further Delta State’s socio-economic and infrastructural development. He called on Deltans to continue supporting the Oborevwori administration in its drive for sustainable growth and transformation.
